About Me

On my last visit to the Lorient Festival I was both surprised and delighted to hear myself described as the following.

"Patricia Roberts is a Celtic Confusion"

Born in Aberdeen on the North-East coast of Scotland to a Welsh father (English was his second language) and a Scottish mother of Irish descent - and brought as a baby to lowland Lanarkshire, where I spent all my childhood, this seemed to me to be a perfect description.

I embarked on a career teaching Science after graduating from university, in one of the large high schools in the Stirling area. Although I loved my job in teaching, my hobby eventually took over, and since 1993, I have been a professional "wandering minstrel" performing traditional Celtic music and songs at many castles and stately homes throughout Scotland and occasionally much further afield. (For more information on this visit my Engagements page).

My home is now Stirling - Gateway to the highlands, and Britain's newest city (since June 2002). For those interested in Scottish history, Stirling city is a MUST to visit with its ancient castle which boasts the largest mediaeval banqueting hall in Europe which was recently restored to its original splendour; Wallace monument; field of Bannockburn and countless other places of interest.

Stirling city is also a cultural centre, particularly of traditional Celtic crafts and music - and I am privileged to play and sing in the Great Mediaeval Hall and other Historical buildings on a regular basis.

"Patricia has the most delightful speaking voice I have heard in a long time. But it's when she sings that her voice is pure joy. High in tone, clear as a bell, think sparkling frost on a sunny day, think clear tinkling water in a highland burn and you're only half way there. This lady has the voice of an angel".
